About five years ago, I remember getting a Facebook message from my friend, Victoria, asking how I was able to quit my job and do Stella & Dot full time. At the time, she was working as a government attorney, making her own ice cream at night, and selling at a local DC farmers market on the weekend. She didn’t have a website, but I do recall a Facebook Group called “Ice Cream Jubilee” where she would post pics in her apartment of different flavors she made. This was pre-Instagram, pre-filters, and before hyper-stylized food pics. I will admit, I was kind of like, “Um, that’s cool, I guess, if ice cream is your thing.” I may not have seen the vision, but she did!

Fast forward five years later, a lot of hot sweltering Farmers Markets, a lot of ice cream scoops, she has her own gorgeous brick and mortar Ice Cream Jubilee store on DC’s waterfront and a second location opened this month. I’m sure her ice cream has come a long way from her ice cream maker in her DC apartment.

What if Victoria had waited until she could make Ice Cream Jubilee a brick and mortar business? She would probably still be waiting.

What idea or opportunity are you playing around with?   Is it taking a leadership position with your child’s school’s PTA? Starting a blog? Starting a side hustle? Don’t wait until you can give 110%….just start.

Read more about Victoria here. When in DC, I highly suggest a visit to Ice Cream Jubilee.
