My journey with Stella & Dot started in November 2011. That was the hardest year of my life. Up until then, I was working part-time at a bank while my mother-in-law babysat my three children under the age of 4. In November 2011, I made the decision to quit my job at the bank to be a Stella & Dot stylist. This wasn’t a decision I was ready to do, but was pushed to do because of tragic events that year. In May 2011, my father, a single healthy man, was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and was given 10-12 months to live. That same month my in-laws were vacationing in Florida when my father-in-law had a sudden massive heart attack and passed away. So with his passing, I didn’t feel right having my grieving mother-in-law babysit while I worked. So, even though I was driving 40 minutes 4 or 5 days a week to take care of my father, I still felt that I needed something for myself. I had hosted a Stella & Dot trunk show 2 years prior and loved the products. I contacted the stylist and signed up without hesitation. This was one of the best decisions of my life.
I needed to have something positive in my life after dealing with such tragedy and this was the ticket!
I worked as a consistent stylist for about two years and in that time lost my father and believe it or not, my step father. Six months after my father passed away from cancer, my stepfather of 19 years passed away suddenly of kidney cancer. Again, Stella and Dot was a positive in my life! In January 2014 I signed up my first stylist! A beautiful soul named Jenni Bodensteiner. She was an amazing spirit and after she attended Hoopla, came back on fire. I knew as her sponsor I needed to step it up. I wanted to make this business more than I had in the past and she pushed me to do that. So in September I was promoted to Associate Stylist and made the goal to be a Star Stylist by the end of 2014. Was I scared? Heck yes, and I can honestly say, I didn’t think it was possible. I made the goal to reach out to one new contact every day in October and in November, I promoted to Star!
I couldn’t have done this without the amazing support of my team and especially my sponsor, Grace Van Cleave! Never have I felt so proud. Grace made sure that she was there right by my side. She has been the voice I needed when I wanted to give up and I give all the credit to her. As I move forward in 2015, I plan to attend Hoopla for the first time and I look forward to building my team and sales! I know all three fathers; my father, my step father, and my father-in-law are looking down on me and very proud of what I have accomplished!
